Day 1 - Safe Arrival

The tour is off to a smooth start. Heat, humidity, garlands and a welcoming poster all greeted the touring party as we arrived in Colombo.

Journeying inland to the slightly cooler Sigiriya, the team is now safely ensconced in their accommodation for the next two evenings. The coach trip featured a lake-side lunch stop, as well as insightful comments from our local guide on Sri Lanka's religious leanings, and the many uses of a palm tree (more than you might think!). Perhaps more interestingly, Mr Gill's grey hairs have trebled after sitting up front, in full view of our coach's zig-zagging rat-race through streets thronged with tuk-tuks, lorries, bikes, people, cows, dogs and more... We have also been briefed on how to deal with Sri Lanka's many greedy monkeys.

Tomorrow, we are privileged to be playing two matches at the internationally-renowned Dambulla stadium.

Eyeing up the cows on the road.

Mr Foster and Mr Taylor are glad to be off the plane.
